Our Goals

  • number 1

    ADVOCACY

To develop political advocacy work through acts, statements testimonies or appeals to Political Actors, to denounce the use or threat of force to achieve political objectives.

  • number 2

    COMMUNITY AWARENESS

To raise Community Awareness and promote public reflection and debate regarding the legitimacy of the use and threat of military force against countries and peoples who wish to exercise their right to organize according to their own wishes.

  • number 3

    EDUCATION

To use Goals 1 and 2 as a means to educate people, both young and old, about the benefits and ways of peace.

  • number 4

    CLARITY

To help generate a global clarity that war is obsolete.

OUR MISSION

The Global Veterans Peace Network (GVPN) will work urgently and creatively with its members and affiliated veterans organizations to promote and achieve Global Peace.

Those who have been involved in the preparation and/or use of military force are in a strong position to point out the resultant erosion of the foundations of international law, the untold suffering and violence, and the extreme risk of the destruction of planet Earth.

It is now time for us to appeal to national and international authorities, the economic actors that influence government action, and the opinion makers and media, questioning their decisions to prioritize the use of force to achieve objectives, instead of opting for the path of dialogue, diplomacy and negotiations.

Many veterans organizations are already doing very good work supporting veterans, and several are also actively involved in promoting peace. GVPN will focus primarily on promoting and working for global peace by communicating with Political Actors and increasing Community Awareness.

GVPN will work actively where appropriate with national and international organizations, including other umbrella type organizations that are already working for peace, in the areas of conflict prevention and conflict resolution, and will be actively involved in peace education projects.
